Feature Comparison Dremel 4000 vs. 3000

On the face of it, these 2 rotary tools do have lots of things in common besides being able to do the same jobs well. They’re both electric rotary tools with the same 6-foot long cord. They feature the EZ Twist nose cap that makes it super easy to replace accessories with another. Check out the expert opinions and the reviews, and they’re both held in high regard.

But there’s no denying the fact that the Dremel 4000 has better features, though of course on the downside it costs a bit more. After all, it’s the newer model and obviously, Dremel worked on making improvements.

The motor of the newer one is now 1.6 amps while the older one still has a 1.2-amp motor. The speed range is also better for the Dremel 4000, with a range of 5,000 to 35,000 rpm instead of just a max of 32,000 rpm.

The main reason that lots of people really like the Dremel 4000 is that it’s compatible with all the attachments and accessories that Dremel has to offer. That makes for a lot of versatility, especially when you pick a kit with 50 accessories.

With the Dremel 3000, you’re only able to use most but not all of the Dremel accessories. Some of the accessories it can use are high-performance ones, so you miss out on the added capabilities.

In the end, they’re still very good rotary tools for various types of applications that need high speeds but low torque capacity. You can use it to carve and engrave, to cut, to clean and polish, and to grind, sand, and sharpen your tools.

They’re both easy to use, and the prices they command even with tons of accessories are more than reasonable. That’s the main reason that both Dremel models are so highly regarded. They offer a lot of value for your money.

Final Verdict

Yes, you can’t go wrong with either of these Dremel rotary tools. They’re just that good. But if I’m forced to choose, I’d personally go with the newer Dremel 4000.

It’s just better, with its faster speed and more powerful motor. It’s comfy to hold and easy to control.

You also can’t deny the fun of trying out all those attachments and accessories. Admit it, sometimes it’s not about having a DIY project and then finding the right tool to use for that project.

In some cases, it’s about finding a fun tool, and then you envision the various projects you can use for it.

In the Dremel 3000 vs. Dremel 4000 showdown, the newer model wins. So try out the Dremel 4000, and get the kit with the 6 attachments and 50 accessories while you’re at it.

You can then have lots of fun trying out each attachment and accessory. While you play with it, you’ll probably imagine or even start a DIY project just to use it.

In the end, lots of us DIY enthusiasts are like boys with toys, and the Dremel 4000 is one heck of a plaything.
