Milwaukee 2460-21 M12 Rotary Tool Review

It’s hard to go against one of the best cordless rotary tools on the planet, and by that, I’m referring to the Dremel 8220. But as this Milwaukee 2460-21 review will show, this rotary tool can just be as good.

Developed by Milwaukee Electric Tool, this product shows off the company’s know-how in straight and die grinding. This Milwaukee 12v rotary tool gets an improved product package and has become a very good deal for those looking for a cordless tool.

Highlighted Features

  • The cordless design lets you bring it anywhere.
  • Thanks to its 1/8” collet, you can insert in several types of bit heads.
  • The powerful battery and motor lets you operate longer and charges faster.
  • The grinder-style exhaust ports and compact design lets this device operate better.

Features

Cordless

This Milwaukee cordless rotary tool allows you to work anywhere. With a solid Lithium-ion battery, a full charge will be enough to get the job done.

12 volts may not seem enough, but it does manage to power the powerful motor that this tool uses. With it, you can cut, grind, polish, and more.

Variable tools

This Milwaukee 12v rotary tool is similar to its rivals in the fact that they can use various bit heads. It is a lot more difficult to change the heads, but they are interchangeable.

This also showcases a big Milwaukee 2460-20 vs 2460-21 difference. The original product package does not come with a tool head, but this one comes with five cutting heads.

Powerful Motor

One of the common factors of many Milwaukee M12 reviews is the surprise at the powerful motor that it has. Powered only by 12 volts, it should not be as good as it is.

However, this motor has a maximum of 32,000 RPM and has a lower end of 5,000 RPM. This gives it quite a bit of range when dealing with jobs.

This means it can do a lot of different types of jobs. With the help of the variable speed dial, you can adapt it quickly to various circumstances.

Milwaukee-Approved Design

Milwaukee Electric Tool has been in the business for 85 years now. This means they know a thing or two about power tools.

This shows in everything from the accessories for the Milwaukee M12 to its design. Thanks to its grinder-style exhaust ports and compact design, owners can expect this device to last longer than their equivalents in the field and have a 10% output advantage.

REDLITHIUM Battery

This device uses the excellent M12 REDLITHIUM Batteries. These are a cut above the rest of the market.

This is noticeable in the fact that have double the runtime, 20% more power, and recharges quickly.

What I Like

  • This device charges in just 30 minutes.
  • With its initial accessories, this is an excellent Milwaukee cut out tool.
  • The compact design will let you bring it anywhere.
  • The 1/8” collet can allow you to use a wide range of accessories.
  • The powerful 12v motor can match anything on the market right now.

What I Didn’t Like

  • One of the main Milwaukee rotary tool problems is the fact that it can break down quickly.
  • Another complaint is that it can be hard to find on the store shelves.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)

How compatible are the bit heads?

The main thing that you have to remember is that the collet is 1/8”. This means it can accept any bit head from 1/32” to 1/8” on the market right now.

Thanks to this, you can actually go outside of the Milwaukee catalog and buy any bit head that fits. You can even go and buy a Dremel tool head and it should fit.

What do I get with this product package?

The M12 2460-21 is a step-up from the basic 2460 package. You get a lot more than just the tool.

Your purchase will get you a charger, five cutting tools, a mandrel, and a bag for the tool itself.

Final Verdict

Looking at what it has to offer, the Milwaukee M12 2460 is an impressive bit of work. With its powerful motor and accessories, it can match any other offering on the market.

This Milwaukee 2460-21 review should be enough to convince you that it worth your money to buy this product.

This rotary tool is made with a cordless design which makes it very portable. I am able to carry it around to any place I am operating from. The 1/8 inch collect has made all my bits very useful since it is highly compatible with most of them. I can insert different bits on it.

Trying to decide between the Dremel 8220 and this. I already have the M12 batteries and strongly leaning that way but I’ve seen this type of comment in so many places — “One of the main Milwaukee rotary tool problems is the fact that it can break down quickly” — and, now, March 11, 2019, I see them marked down to $70 and I’m wondering whether to take advantage of the price or are they just trying to sell them off quickly? I’ll probably just wait until the next generation from Milwaukee. I’ve gotten by this long without one.
